Learn about changes to the 2024–25 FAFSA Process
Federal Student Aid is making changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024–2025 aid year. This change includes the FAFSA form and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in federal student aid programs. All of this means that the timing for the FAFSA process is changing. Historically, the FAFSA form has been made available on October 1 each year, but this year the form will not be available until sometime in December 2023.
Financing your education
Our office is committed to helping you find the financial means to achieve your educational goals.
A sound investment in education
The value of a UNE education stems not only from the benefits you enjoy from the respected degree you earn with us, but also from our commitment to helping you manage the associated costs. Because pursuing a graduate or professional degree is a significant financial commitment, UNE understands that you are looking for a university that delivers enduring value and strong return on your investment.
UNE is the largest educator of health care professionals for the state of Maine, and its outstanding programs in medicine and the health sciences have been recognized in the U.S. News & World Report's 2022 rankings of America's best colleges. UNE's College of Osteopathic Medicine was noted for its national leadership in primary care training, geriatrics, rural medicine, and family medicine. UNE’s Westbrook College of Health Professions' graduate programs in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nurse Anesthesia and Physician Assistant were also ranked among the best in the nation. With accolades like these, you can be confident your advanced degree is worth your investment.
While the national default rate on student loans is 2.3%, the default rate for UNE graduates is considerably lower at just 0.6% — a direct reflection of both our competitive tuition and the value of the education you receive. With a UNE degree, manageable college expenses, and our commitment to partnering with you to help fund your studies, you are well equipped for the transition after graduate or professional school.
